Enrolling at Otamatea High School

Otamatea High School has an enrolment scheme that determines who can enrol at the school. Students may apply for entry under two categories.

- In Home Zone
- Out of Home Zone

Enrolments will close on 10 December 2024 and will re-open 20 January 2025

In Home Zone - Automatic Entry

Students may enrol and attend the school as of right, provided they:

  • have entitlement to a state education
  • live in the home zone with a parent or guardian.  
  • qualify for the grandparenting provision (have a sibling who was enrolled as at 1 October 2022) 
  • have not been excluded or expelled from another school

Documentation required for all enrolments:

  • Completed enrolment form
  • Proof of address of parent/caregiver (recent power bill or Tenancy Agreement)
  • Birth Certificate or Passport  
  • Immunisation record 
  • Latest school report 
  • Any other important information: (e.g, parenting/protection orders, further medical information, further learning information if relevant)

Once the school is satisfied that the enrolment criteria have been met, the student and parent/caregiver will be invited to attend an enrolment interview.

Out of Home Zone  - Entry Process for 2024

We are no longer taking Out of Home Zone Enrolments for 2024 for years 7 - 11. Parents/caregivers are welcome to pre-enrol to go on the waiting list. For years 12 and 13, we still have Out of Home Zone places available for 2024. 

Documentation required:

  • Completed enrolment form
  • Proof of address of parent/caregiver (recent power bill or Tenancy Agreement)
  • Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Immunisation record
  • Latest school report
  • Any other important information: (e.g, parenting/protection orders, further medical information, further learning information if relevant).

Once the enrolment documentation is complete, the student and parent/caregiver will be invited to attend a pre-enrolment interview. If there are Out of Home Zone places available then the student will be able to start immediately, otherwise the student's enrolment will be placed on the waiting list.

Out of Home Zone - Entry Process for 2025

2025 Out of Home Zone enrolment places available:

Years 7 & 10 - no places available - applications will go on to our waiting list
Year 8 - 5 places available
Year 9 - no places available - applications will go on to our waiting list
Years 11-13 - no current limit on places available.

The enrolment of students who live outside of the home zone and do not qualify for the grandparenting provision can apply under the Out-of-Home Zone process.

Siblings of enrolled students as at 1 October 2022 are protected under the grandparenting provision. See link for more details.
